100th anniversary of the Association des Organistes Romands AOR

Switzerland’s largest Gothic cathedral and its superlative organs will host the AOR’s 100th anniversary gala concert. The concert is the culmination of the various events organized in Switzerland since June 28.

The concert will take place in three parts: a student (Francesco Alessandrini, Emanuele Lo Bianco, Elizaveta Lobanova, Gabriela Avila Martinez and Zeltzin Pérez Enriquez) from each of the five HEM organ professors in French-speaking Switzerland will take part in the creation of a Suite liturgique romande, commissioned by the AOR from five composers from French-speaking Switzerland.

Then, the incumbents of the four cathedrals in French-speaking Switzerland (Vincent Thévenaz in Geneva, Jean-Christophe Geiser in Lausanne, Nicolas Viatte in Fribourg and Edmond Voeffray in Sion) will propose an emblematic work by a composer from their canton. Finally, three organists will improvise on themes from French-speaking Switzerland.

On Saturday June 28, tours of the great organs and activities for children will be offered between 10am and 4pm. The full program for the 100th anniversary of the AOR is available at www.organistesromands.ch
